chattanooga home design trends

As 2018 comes to a close, we can’t help but whip out our magic eight ball and look towards the future. Trend predictions are always a fun way to indulge ourselves in a little ‘new year, new me’ action. So here are 5 trends we predict will be popping up in 2019.

Tile Backsplash Feature Walls

Attention-grabbing backsplash tile is nothing new in well-designed kitchens. But what many professionals are seeing more of lately is an interest in taking tile from countertop to ceiling, even behind floating shelves and range hoods, to create an eye-catching feature wall.

Stand-Alone Tubs

Bathroom Trends have shown that homeowners debate whether to keep a bathtub following a remodel. But it’s clear that those who enjoy taking baths really enjoy taking baths. Couple that with people spending more to increase the size of their bathroom and create a spa-like environment and you’ve got some homeowners who aren’t just keeping the tub, they’re celebrating it.

Eye-Catching Wall Treatments

Every vertical space is an opportunity to get creative. In 2019, flat surfaces like walls and island benches will be adorned like never before. Old favorites like wooden dowels, shiplap, and even wool will feature in these spaces in clever new ways.

Board and Batten Exteriors

The modern farmhouse look is still going strong throughout the home but exteriors are also seeing some of that throwback love. The board and batten method of construction delivers that homey look and adds texture and interest to what might otherwise be a flat facade.

Calming Colors

The word wellness isn’t going anywhere in 2019, except straight into our interior spaces. Similar to the pastel kitchen trend, our entire homes are about to be given the good vibes treatment. Chalky hues, muted mints – each color choice we make next year will be emblematic of what makes us feel comfortable and calm within our home havens.
